I Had No Time to Hate for SATB chorus (2020)
3-1/2 minutes
One of fourteen works written during the Covid pandemic in 2020, I Had No Time to Hate is a straightforward setting of a poem by Emily Dickenson:
I had no time to hate, because
The grave would hinder me,
And life was not so ample I
Could finish enmity.
Nor had I time to love; but since
Some industry must be,
The little toil of love, I thought,
Was large enough for me.
The setting was written for Triad (Boston's Choral Collective), who premiered it in May of 2021.
